Last weekend Google rolled out its two search algorithms, Panda 4.0 and Payday Loan 2.0 updates. Search Engine Marketers were excited to see Matt Cutts, the head of the webspam team at Google, tweet (Google is rolling out our Panda 4.0 update starting today) on 20th May 2014.
It is quite difficult to predict how Google search algorithm works, though. Generally Google Panda algorithm targets to lower the search engine rank of low quality sites (sites with poor content), for example sites having huge amount of advertisement. This algorithm was first launched in Feb 2011.
Next algorithm, Google Payday Loan targets very spammy queries that are low quality sites appearing in spammy queries; like payday loan, insurance policies, health insurance etc. This algorithm prevents displaying those sites under these kinds of queires. This algorithm was first launched in Jun 2013.
There have been a lot of speculations and rumors after the update of these algorithms. Certainly, Panda 4.0 and Payday Loan 2.0 will affect the sites with poor content and sites appearing in spammy queries respectively. However, to display the genuine and better search results to the Googler is the main aim of Google. Let us expect Panda 4.0 and Payday Loan 2.0 do good in search result ranking and search experience.
